The Fall NRO (Northeast Regional Organization of the National Speleological Society) will be held the weekend of September 14-16, at the Privacy Campground, in Hancock, MA, near the borders of New York and Vermont.  Host is Central Connecticut Grotto.  Cavers from grottoes throughout the northeast (and non-affliliated cavers) come together for a weekend of caving, networking, recreation, and business.  More info at www.caves.org/region/nro/ or by contacting Steve Millette at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

The regular meeting of the Vermont Cavers Association will be held this Sunday, June 17, 9:00 AM at the Rutland Regional Ambulance Building (next to the Rutland Regional Medical Center).

Agenda will include the upcoming NSS Convention in Indiana, report on the 2010 NSS convention planning, cave trip reports, and action on changing our regular meeting dates to the third Sunday of the EVEN numbered months (like this one).

There is no specific after-meeting activity, but cave trips may happen, so be prepared!

Additions to the agenda should communicated to VCA President, Ken Moore

Mt. Aeolus Bat Cave Preserve Garlic Mustard Pulling PDF Print E-mail

The Nature Conservancy, owner of the Mt Aelus Bat Cave Preserve, is sponsoring an invastive species (garlic mustard) pulling activity, Thursday, April 26, beginning at 9:30 AM. This was originally scheduled for the 18th, but was postponed due to snow.

VCA members are invited to participate in this activity by calling Candice at TNC at (802) 229-4425 Ext. 111, so she can get a head count. Participants are asked to meet at the Trail Head (where we park for the Freedlyville Ice Skating outing) at 9:30 AM.

Spring NRO 2007 - May 18-20, 2007

The NRO returns to the premier caving area of New York - the Schoharie/Cobleskill region. Lots of caving opportunities for beginners, armchair cavers and even some new excursions into recent discoveries. NYC's Met Grotto is hosting, and we'll be serving a Monster Pasta Feed dinner on Saturday, with daily breakfasts prepared on-site as well.
